Saturday

My Dearest Darling:

Have been having a heck
of a time trying to get this started -
everyone seems to have that Saturday
night sprit and no place to let go – so
we’re taking it out on each other – what
a place this could be if there was a
barrel of beer around! It’s been so long
since we’ve had a good drink that I
imagine it would floor us! I
went to Confession tonight which
helps add to that Saturday night feeling-
Am going to Holy Communion in the
morning – It’s Holy Name Sunday! I Love
You Peg Darling!

Received 3 letters today – really
was happy! I sure wish I’d get
1945-02-10_Page_2 all the letters you’ve written up to
Jan 18th – cause right now things
are really disconnected – especially
in one you said you showed Jacke
all the Baby clothes you received – am
wondering whether you had a shower-
(and if) who instigated & all that
stuff  Would like to find out when
Ruth found out Ole got killed – I
believe it was the 17th of November
but am not quite sure.  It’s no more
than a day before or after! Have you
heard from Mrs {Ramb?}? It’s the same
story as Ruth!! And a few others -
I Love You Darling!

Honey keep that Chin of yours up and don’t let anything dampen
1945-02-10_Page_3 your spirits – a log of things are hard
to take and all of a sudden there’s
a realization of just what is going on -
but for one moment never think that
I won’t come home to you – It could
happen – but never think about it because
everything seems that much worse!
Things are hard enough to face when they
present themselves without premature
sorry & fretting! I always had a
feeling I was going to get hit – the
only thing I wondered about was
just how bad it would be! I Love
You Darling & Please don’t worry!

Am still sitting around
waiting – It’s really hard on the
nerves – but that’s the Army!

Hope you’re feeling well Darling -
the baby will soon be here – all
I can do to help is Pray that all will
be O.K.- and I’m doing it! I Love
You Honey!

Must take a bath before retiring
tonight – will shave in the morning -
tomorrow afternoon we’re going on
another Red Cross tour--

Honey I can’t write anything to
Ruth because I’m just too darn crude
at it – so we’ll wait ‘till you can
help out-

Goodnight Darling – God Bless
You Honey!

I Love You Loads!
Love & Kisses
Johnnie
